Sri Lanka always has been a good fighter. Sri Lanka has played World T20 final twice but they lost the matches both the time. This time their team combination is very perfect and most of the players are in good form. So, Sri Lanka is also the favourite of this event.
Sri Lanka openers are very dangerous. Dilshan has shown his fitness in the warm-up match against West Indies while Kusal Perera is very energetic and aggressive youngster in who the spirit of legendary Jaysureya can be shown. They have declared their retirement after this cup, so they will try to make this event memorable and give their country a gift. From the Asia Cup, Sangakara is in a good touch and made a 100 also against India. Both of these are good against spinners and have great familiarity with Bangladesh conditions because they have played Asia Cup as well as 3 tests in the recent past.
Chandimal plays an important role in the late middle order and performs when the upper players, the top order, collapse. He has a mutual ability of saving the wicket as well as hitting the strokes. After Chandimal, the Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews is the key player in the lower order and he always plays a responsible innings whenever required. He is a good chaser as well and plays according to the plans. He takes the innings to last overs and then at last diverts the defeat into victory. The tale enders including Kulasekara, Senanayake and T Parera can hit big strokes. So the batting line is very stable here.
Now if we move toward the bowling side, the great Malinga and Mendis are the key bowlers. Both of these always have been the match winners. If one of these bowls 2 to 3 overs with great focus, he can pull the match off the hands of opposite team. In Asia cup, the performance of Malinga was extra-ordinary. In 1st match against Pakistan, Malinga changed the defeat into win by getting five wickets in last 10 overs. Similarly, in final of Asia Cup, he took 3 quick wickets in just 18 runs and put Pakistan under great pressure Mendis arm ball and carom balls are very difficult to judge. So, if Sri Lanka makes 160, it will be very difficult for opposer to achieve this, as they defeated South Africa by 5 runs in first match.
The problem with this side is that, if these two don’t succeed in getting wickets, the opposite side can attack the other bowlers and put the Sri Lanka under pressure.
