After defeating India, Pakistan and Sri-Lanka are most probably to appear in the final of Asia cup 20th. Sri Lanka has won the Asia cup four times while Pakistan just twice. Sri Lanka’s will mainly depend upon Sangakara and Malinga. Sangakara is in a good touch and made 103 on just 90 deliveries against India and played the vital role in the victory. He has a good record against Pakistan in the past. He is well familier with the Bangladesh environment due to the series held between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the near past . Malinga is in the good form and got 5 wickets in the first match against Pakistan. He is the best bowler in the world at present and can change the scenario of the match at any time. He just need to bowl 2 to 3 overs with great concentration and you know what may in the match? The Sri Lanka captain is also good weapon and he performs whenever the team demands this. He has the ability to get the wicket when the remaining remains unsuccessful.
The present Asian Champion Pakistan will defend the honour. Pakistan team is blessed with the Shehzad , Hafeez , Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi , Umar Gul and Saeed ajmal. All of these are in good form and anyone of these can make the victory possible very easily. Shehzad is providing good opening partnership with Sharjeel. Hafeez made a 70+ run in last inning against india . Umar Akmal is in a tremendous form. He has a good track record again Sri Lanka. He made 73 agianst Sri Lanka in 1st match and brought Pakistan near the victory but unfortunately the wicket dropped successful and Pakistan lost the match by 12 runs. Afridi always, has been UN-predict able and when his BOOM BOOM starts up then no one stop him. The same was seen in last match against India when he hit quick 34 of 18 balls, an inning more important composed to ordinary century, and Pakistan beat India by just 1 wicket is bowling has always been outstanding against Sri Lanka, especially against Right-Handers and majority of the batsman is right handed including M jayawardene , A Mathews and D Chamila. Outstanding performance has been seen by Ajmal and been seen by Ajmal and Gul till now and are causing difficulties for batsman.
The main problem with Sri Lanka side is that if Malanga doesn’t take the wickets, the Lankan bowling will collapse and they would not be able to defend a target even about 300+. If Pakistan bats first and makes around about 300 overs, will be very difficult to achieve the target against the best bowling attach of the world. Along with Gul and Junaid and Talha is also implied him a surprise package due to his pace. He gave only 22 in his 7 overs against India and got 2 wickets as well. Hafeez is also very difficult for left handers ( Sangakara , Thrimine )
Pakistan’s batting side is very inconsistent and hasn’t achieved a target of 250+ since February 2011, but the side is very un-predictable. Misbah is showing outstanding performance for last one and half-year and wins the leading run-scorer in the calendar year 2013. Sharjeel and Sohaib are such player who can but at about 12 run per over. If one of these two plays an innings of 60 or 70+, then batting is not going to be a problem for Pakistan b/c Shehzad, Hafeez, Umar Akmal and Afridi are in good touch already.
As the final of any event has been a pressure game always, Pakistan will have an advantage of support from Bangladeshi crowd. It would be like the home ground. While Sri-Lanka is lost the finals of world cup 2007 and 2011 by Australia and India respectively, their record in finals is not very good and Pakistan has also defeated the Sri Lanka in the final of T20 world cup 2009. So Pakistan will have a psychological superiority.
So let’s see what happens but I think both of the teams are powerful at this time according to their great performance
